Ibrahim

Dreaming his daughters can go to school

Stories of Ethiopia

Ibrahim

Ibrahim is a father of three and a merchant in Yella. He will take goods such as hand-made bamboo mats and carry them on foot for 60km to the nearest town of Arba Minch. The trail is steep and the journey is hard but he does it once a week to sell in the market. Water for him will mean that his daughters will be able to attend school rather than hike up the mountain to find water. He encourages his kids to dream of what they could become when water comes to their village.
